    Kicking and special teams props

    • 49ers
    • Chiefs
    • Chiefs

    Prop bet #1: Feeling Moody

Teams don’t kick many field goals against the Kansas City Chiefs, with K.C. allowing the second-fewest field goals in the NFL at just 1.2 per game.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody booted two field goals against the Lions in the NFC Championship game, but that was just the second time in his last nine games he has kicked more than a single FG in a contest.

Part of the reason for that is due to the Niners having the best red zone offense in the league. The 49ers punch it into the end zone on 68.5% of their trips inside their opponent’s 20-yard line, with that number jumping up to 88.9% over their last three games.

Moody has a promising future but he averaged just 1.2 field goals per game during the regular season and he’s a rookie, so nerves could play a role in a game of this stature. Fade Moody on his field goals made on Sunday.

Pick: 49ers Under 1.5 made field goals (-115 at bet365)

    Prop bet #2: Kicking Butt(ker)

While the 49ers have the best RZ offense in the NFL, the Chiefs are just 19th in the league with a RZ TD percentage of 52.7% — with that dipping to 46.2% in their last three games. Their issues with stalling out in the red zone are just one reason I like kicker Harrison Butker to go Over his field goal total of 1.5.

The other reason is that Butker is simply one of the best kickers in the league and should have been named to the Pro Bowl over Justin Tucker. finishing the regular season with the fifth-most field goals in the league (33) and converting them at a sizzling 94.3% clip.

In what’s expected to be a close game, expect the Chiefs to try to squeeze out points on as many drives as possible which should mean several field goal attempts for the strong-legged Butker.

Pick: Chiefs Over 1.5 made field goals (-115 at bet365)

Prop bet #3: Run Townsend Run

It isn’t just kickers that you can bet on at the Super Bowl with plenty of books also throwing up markets for the punters. The Over/Under for the longest punt for Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend is set at 56.5 yards. Townsend has gone Under that number in his last three games, but all of those playoff outings came outdoors in less-than-ideal conditions.

Townsend had a punt Over 56.5 yards in six of his final seven games of the regular season, and with the Super Bowl taking place at Allegiant Stadium, he should be able to boom a punt or two. Keep in mind that with San Francisco’s stingy defense, the Chiefs could also be punting more than usual giving him more opportunities to hit the Over.

Pick: Chiefs longest punt Over 56.5 (-125 at DraftKings)
