Thomas Tuchel insists Bayern Munich won’t try ‘crazy things’ in transfer window

Thomas Tuchel insists Bayern Munich will not be “forced into crazy things” in the last days of the January transfer window despite a growing injury list.

Bayern are without a number of key first-teamers, including midfielders Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer and centre-back Dayot Upamecano, as they aim to gain ground in the Bundesliga title race when they travel the short distance to Bavarian neighbours Augsburg on Saturday afternoon.

The depth of Tuchel’s squad is set to be tested in the coming weeks, but he is adamant his club will not be rushed into any panic buys.

Tuchel on the transfer window: We re working on things that make sense for us. We aren t letting ourselves be influenced by other factors such as injuries. We believe in our strengths and in the…

Football rumours: Chelsea could use Christian Pulisic to lure Victor Osimhen

What the papers say

Christian Pulisic, 24, is one of the stars likely to be offloaded by Chelsea this summer with the Daily Mail saying he could be used to lure another big name to Stamford Bridge. The United States forward could be used as part of a deal to persuade Napoli to sell Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen.

Paris St Germain are poised to make a bid for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, 21. The Daily Mail reports that the Ligue 1 giants will make a summer swoop for the France Under-21 international.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, 30, is a target for Bayer Leverkusen, according to the Daily Mirror. The German club tried to sign the Switzerland international last summer and The Sun reports the Gunners are keen on a potential deal involving Leverkusen winger Mous…

Wilshere could face punishment for gesture

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere could face disciplinary action from the Football Association for a gesture towards Manchester City fans.

The England international was pictured raising his middle finger towards the home supporters during Arsenal s 6-3 defeat at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Liverpool s Luis Suarez was handed a one-match ban and a fine for a similar incident at Fulham in 2011, and Wilshere now faces a nervy wait to see if he will face retrospective action.

Elsewhere, team-mate Mesut Ozil has apologised to Arsenal supporters after failing to applaud them at the end of the match.

The 25-year-old headed straight towards the tunnel at the final whistle, and was given a verbal tirade by fellow Germany international Per Mertesacker for failing to reco…

Bruce: Make the most of Fulham mauling

Hull City boss Steve Bruce expects his side s 6-0 hammering of Fulham on Saturday to live in the memory for many years to come.

A goalless first half at the KC Stadium did little to hint at what would follow after the interval, Ahmed Elmohamady triggering a flurry of goals that saw Robert Koren (twice), George Boyd, Tom Huddlestone and Matty Fryatt also get in on the act.

Huddlestone s goal was his first since April 2011, while Boyd and Fryatt each secured records of having scored in each level of English league football with their first top-flight strikes to complete a feel-good outing.

After the game, the Hull boss hailed former Tottenham man Huddlestone s performance as a masterclass and called for him to be included in England s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.

Wilder reveals O’Connell isn’t for sale

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has revealed that he has spoken to Brighton Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton, informing him that Jack O Connell is not for sale. The 24-year-old defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and more specifically with a move to the Seagulls, who are attempting to solidify their place in the Premier League this season after avoiding relegation in the 2017/18 campaign.

O Connell has been steadily improving over the last few years to the point where a handful of clubs were looking into the possibility of signing him, but it seems as if that won t be the case. The Blades surprised a lot of people in their promotion push last year, and as we look ahead to the new season, they re expected to be up there again with O Connell …

Council open to selling San Siro to Inter & AC Milan amid new stadium proposal

Mayor Giuseppe Sala has revealed Milan council is open to the possibility of selling San Siro to Inter and AC Milan.

The Italian giants announced in July they had taken the first steps to replacing their iconic home with a new 60,000-seater stadium after filing a proposal with local authorities.

Inter and bitter rivals Milan have a long-running lease on San Siro, though it is in need of significant regeneration.

However, Sala said he wants to see the two teams remain at their current ground – which is owned by the city of Milan and has offered them an alternative option.
